Why is there no sound from the dictionary speaker?
No sound usually means the Japanese recorded sources had no clip and your browser or OS has no voice for that language. Install a system voice, check the device volume, and try again.
Steps
Check Japanese recorded audio
- For Japanese, wait a moment—JapanesePod101 or Jisho may still be fetching.
- Some words have no hosted clip. YuzuLingo then needs an on-device voice.
Check on-device voices
- Install a voice for that language in your OS or browser speech settings.
- Chrome can use browser TTS; Firefox uses page speechSynthesis voices.
Check the device
- Confirm the tab is not muted and system volume is up.
- Press the speaker again; a second press restarts playback.
