Why is Japanese furigana missing or wrong?
Missing furigana usually means Interact is off, Japanese is unchecked, Furigana is off, or OCR misread the line. Wrong ruby often follows a bad OCR string—fix the text or press Retry.
Steps
Check Interact and Japanese
- Turn on Interact and check Japanese.
- Open the subtitle panel Settings → Readings. Confirm the Japanese dropdown has a reading system selected (not No readings).
Fix the OCR text
- If the base line is wrong, press Retry or double-click the text to edit.
- Resize the zone so it tightly covers the hardsub.
