Why did my custom dictionary fail to import?
Import only accepts a Yomitan format-3 zip with index.json. Zip64, .gz banks, loose JSON, and many raw dumps fail. Large pitch zips can sit on Reading the file… for a long time before progress moves — that is not always a failure.
Steps
Check the zip
- Confirm index.json inside the zip sets format to 3.
- Use stored or deflate compression. Avoid Zip64.
- Glossary zips need term_bank files. Pitch and frequency zips need term_meta_bank files.
Wait or try a known-good file
- If the bar stays on Reading the file…, wait for a large pitch zip, or reload the extension and try again.
- Add a hosted catalog row first to confirm the bridge works, then import your zip again.
