How does the dictionary speaker work?
Press the speaker on the dictionary popup to hear the headword. For Japanese, YuzuLingo tries a recorded clip from JapanesePod101, then Jisho, then falls back to on-device text-to-speech. Other languages use on-device TTS only.
Prerequisites
Interact text is visible and the dictionary popup is open on a word.
Steps
Press the speaker
- Hover a word so the dictionary popup opens.
- Press the speaker button next to the headword.
What plays
- Japanese: recorded JapanesePod101 or Jisho audio when available, otherwise the browser or OS voice.
- English, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean: on-device TTS using the reading when the popup has one.
