How do I look up a word on the burned-in line?
Turn on Interact so the burned-in line is text on the video. Hover a word on that line or in the transcript to open the dictionary popup. The card stays open until you click away or press Escape. By default, Pause on hover also pauses the video while the card is open.
Prerequisites
Interact is on for the zone. Recognized text is visible under Show text. At least one dictionary is installed, or starter install has finished.
Steps
Show the recognized text
- Turn on Interact on the zone.
- Set Show text to Always, Hover, or Hold so you can see the line.
Hover a word
- Hover a word on the recognized line on the video, or on a word in the transcript.
- The popup shows reading, part-of-speech tags, and glosses from your active dictionaries.
- With Pause on hover on (default), the video pauses if it was playing. The card stays until you click away or press Escape.
Also, speaker, Export
- Use Also chips when shorter matches exist.
- Press the speaker to hear the headword. For Japanese, YuzuLingo tries a recorded clip first, then the browser voice.
- Press Export when Anki is set up to open Export card.
