Does OCR work on stylized subtitles?
Yes. YuzuLingo’s Interact OCR reads burned-in subtitle pixels, so outlined, shadowed, colored, and many stylized hardsubs work—not only plain white soft-sub text. Soft subtitle tracks you can toggle in the player are still out of scope; the zone targets text painted into the video.
Prerequisites
A zone covers the line. Interact is on. The language chip for that hardsub language is checked.
Steps
Cover the styled line
- Place the zone so the full glyph, including outline or shadow, sits inside the box.
Turn on Interact
- Click the zone to focus it, then press Interact on the toolbar.
- Check the language chips that match the burned-in script.
If a line looks wrong
- Press Retry on the toolbar, or double-click the recognized text to edit the line.
- No Text Detected usually means the zone misses the line. Text found — check language means the chips do not match the script.
