Can I upload or change dictionaries?

Prerequisites

The extension is installed. Manage or Add dictionary in the popup opens this help page. Changing dictionaries on the website Settings → Dictionary tab needs you signed in so the page can talk to the extension.

Steps

   Open dictionary settings

   • From this page, use Add or change dictionaries, or open Settings → Dictionary while signed in.
   • From the extension popup, choose Manage or Add dictionary to return here, then open Settings.

   Add from the catalog or import a zip

   • Offered rows show Kind, Learning, and Meanings in. Press Add to download that zip onto this device.
   • Import your own zip when it is Yomitan format 3 with index.json. Glossary, pitch, and frequency zips use the same Add control.
   • A progress bar shows while the zip is read and imported. Large pitch zips can stay on Reading the file… longer.

   Order, hide, or remove

   • Drag installed glossary rows to set popup gloss order. The first glossary supplies the reading at the top of the popup.
   • Use the row menu to turn a dictionary off, delete it, or Reload a custom zip.
   • Filters for Kind, Learning, and Meanings stay in the URL. Drag-reorder is off while a filter is on.
