YuzuLingo vs Manatan (KolbyML)
YuzuLingo stays in the browser. You cover burned-in subtitles on the video you are already watching, including YouTube, Bilibili, and other web players. There is no app to download. Turn on Interact to read the burned-in line on your device, with furigana or pinyin when the language has them. Show that text always, on hover, or while you hold a hotkey.
Manatan is KolbyMLâs app, in the repo Manatan. You download it for Windows, Linux, or macOS, or use the Android app. iOS is in public beta. It opens a local page at 127.0.0.1:4567. You add Mihon, Aniyomi, or Aidoku sources and watch anime or read manga inside the app. Manga OCR turns hovered text into selectable text. Anime uses subtitle parsing and a popup dictionary while the video plays. One click makes an Anki card from an anime sentence, with sentence audio. Word audio is included. Local OCR is on Android, iOS, and desktop. You can also read local manga (folders, CBZ, ZIP, EPUB, JPEG XL), local mkv files, and EPUBs, and sync progress across devices. They say it supports every language. Browser and YouTube mining is still on the roadmap. Latest release: New Light 5.
