YuzuLingo vs immersive (Ben-Kerman)
YuzuLingo stays in the browser. You cover burned-in subtitles on the video you are already watching, including YouTube, Bilibili, and other web players. There is no media player to set up and no subtitle file to start from. Turn on Interact to read the burned-in line on your device, with furigana or pinyin when the language has them. Show that text always, on hover, or while you hold a hotkey.
Immersive is Ben-Kerman’s script for mpv, in the repo immersive. You look up a word in the subtitle track with dictionaries you configure, including a Yomichan JMdict folder. It deinflects with the Migaku tables plus a Japanese deinflector, and it can copy the line. Export builds an Anki card with the definition, sentence audio, and a screenshot. Forvo pronunciation is optional and comes from the web. If the video has no subtitle line, you can set the audio times by hand and look up a word from the clipboard. It runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS. Release 1.4. The last commit was about 2 years ago. GPL-3.0.
