YuzuLingo vs mpvacious (Ajatt-Tools)
YuzuLingo stays in the browser. You cover burned-in subtitles on the video you are already watching, including YouTube, Bilibili, and other web players. There is no video file to download. Turn on Interact to read the burned-in line on your device, with readings such as furigana, pinyin, romanization, or IPA when that language has them. Show that text always, on hover, or while you hold a hotkey.
mpvacious is Ajatt-Tools’ script for mpv, in the repo mpvacious. You open a local video that already has a subtitle file. A key press sends the current line to Anki, with an audio clip and a picture. You can use a second subtitle track, copy the line, and replay it. Animated snapshots are optional. If there is no subtitle line, you can set the times by hand and still make an audio and picture card. It works with GoldenDict-ng or Rikaitan for lookup. Those are separate tools. Optional Forvo audio comes from the web. If the show is hard-subbed, the README points at transformers-ocr to read the text. It runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS, and it asks for mpv 0.41 or newer. Linux is what they recommend. The latest release is v26.7.28.0. The last commit was on 14 October 2026. GPL-3.0. It does not cover a web video while it plays.
